Who You Are You are a creative, organized, and detail-focused designer who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment. With advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator/Creative Cloud and a strong understanding of garment construction, patterns, and fabrics, you bring both a passion for fashion and technical precision to each project. You’re collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable managing various priorities across ready-to-wear and lingerie categories. As part of a small design team, you possess a resourceful mindset and can creatively solve problems, ensuring that the team meets its goals. What You’ll Do Contribute to Seasonal Design: Support the design team in ideating and developing ready-to-wear concepts each season, collaborating across teams to bring ideas from concept to final product. Create Technical Sketches and CADs: Use Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe Creative Cloud tools to create technical sketches and CADs, ensuring designs align with the brand's vision. Oversee Fabric and Sample Management: Source fabrics, dye materials, and track samples, including regular trips to Midtown to manage vendor relationships and oversee material quality. This includes sending messengers back and forth for samples and coordinating deliveries with fabric showrooms, mills, and suppliers to ensure access to the latest materials and trends. Assist in Pattern-Making and Garment Fittings: Work closely with patterns and assist in garment fittings, ensuring construction accuracy and supporting technical adjustments. Coordinate with Overseas Production: Communicate with overseas factories and mills to ensure design integrity, consistent quality, and timely delivery, bridging the process from design to product completion. Organize and Track Design Data: Manage design documents, maintain Excel spreadsheets, and ensure all materials and updates are tracked accurately throughout the production timeline. Supervise Interns: Oversee and mentor design interns, providing guidance on projects, helping them develop their skills, and ensuring their contributions align with team goals. Experience with Fabric Dyeing: Have a hands-on understanding of fabric dyeing techniques, aiding in the development of unique color palettes that align with seasonal collections. You’ll Need to Have Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field, with 1–3 years of experience as a design assistant, ideally in RTW. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, along with a strong understanding of Excel; familiarity with garment construction, pattern-making, and fabrications. Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain and track various projects with accuracy, managing timelines, data, and sample tracking. Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to handle shifting priorities and troubleshoot issues, especially when working across RTW and lingerie categories. We’d Love to See Presentation Skills: Experience preparing visual boards, aiding in meetings and presentations, and organizing materials for senior design leads. Cross-functional Collaboration: Experience working closely with production, development, and sales teams to ensure a smooth process from design to delivery.
